A knight fishes from a wooden dock while other players gather around a campfire and an anvil, next to a large pink slime.

The brambles are coming back early this year.

Brambletide is a small online RPG you play in your browser. Fish off the town dock, cook what you catch, hammer out a better helmet, and go find out who's been planting black thorns in the forest.

Free to play. Still being built. Nothing to install.

The look we're building toward.

What you actually do

It's an MMO, so there are other people around: in town, at the fishing spots, in the dungeons. It's also small on purpose. You can sit down for twenty minutes, catch a few trout, and log off having done something.

Fight with your feet

Monsters wind up before they swing, and the ground shows where it's going to hurt. Step out of it or roll through it. Sword and shield, staff and bow all play differently, and bosses have a second phase you'll want to learn.

Fishing is a real skill

Different water, different time of day, different rod, different fish. Some of them pull hard. Cooked over a campfire, they're also the best buffs you can get, so the people who fish end up feeding the people who fight.

Make your own gear

Mine ore, chop wood, smelt it, smith it. Sometimes what comes off the anvil is better than the recipe promised. Whatever you end up wearing shows on your character, for you and for everyone else.

Bring friends, or don't

Parties of four, guilds, chat, a trade board in town. Or ignore all of it and go fishing.

Runs in a browser tab

No launcher, no download. Open the page on a desktop browser and you're in.

Still being made

New places get added as they're finished. Expect things to change, and the odd rough edge.

The world

Every few hundred years the brambles rise out of the middle of the country like a tide. The old guardian spirits, the Wardens, each sit on one of the great roots and keep it asleep. This year the forest is waking early, and someone has been pushing black thorn-seeds into the Wardens.

You start in Mossmere, a hill village of honey-colored stone, and work outward from there.

Concept art. Some of these places aren't in the game yet.

Downloads

For now Brambletide runs in your browser, so there's nothing to download. Standalone builds will show up here when they exist.
